Teaching

I've been asked by my local quilt shop to teach "Hand piecing" as well as "Hand Quilting"! I was very surprised!! I have never taught a quilting class before! After giving it some thought I decided to do it. If I can teach my daughters I can teach others! Nothing ventured nothing gained. :0) Here is a sneak peek of my class sample. It's not very big at all. This is a beginner class so I don't want to over whelm my students. I almost have it finished. It will be displayed at the quilt shop as the class sample. The shop owner wanted me to use her fabrics for the class. A kit will be offered for the class using these same fabrics. I'm getting excited, and looking forward to this new adventure! :0)

  2. Congrats...it is indeed flattering to be asked to teach...by your sample I would say you will do well. I am a hand piecer and hand quilter...do you use a couple of running stitches then a back stitch or back stitch all the time? I decided a long time ago to use the back stitch all the time (self taught, you know how it is), then watched others using the other method. One of many positive things about hand piecing, I find them much easier to hand quilt. Good Luck.

  4. I think you will make a good teacher. It takes time to build up a following. Hand piecing & hand quilting are going to become a lost art if there aren't those willing to teach it.

  9. I wish I could be in your class. Unfortunately, there aren't any quilt shops or big fabric stores in my area, so I am learning quilting by bloggers like you. I love the sample and the fabrics. Have fun!
